Description: Located on a paved road just south of Baldwin City, Ad Astra Alpacas welcomes visitors who are interested in our herd of gentle, luxuriously fibered animals. Alpacas like children, so it is easy to have a fun, educational experience. Our goals are to raise friendly alpacas, improve on the fleece characteristics with each new generation, and provide wonderful products from the fiber we harvest each spring.

Description: View the honeybees at work in the glass-enclosed honeybee observation unit. Description: Our goal is to make good wine from Kansas grown fruit with minimal intervention. Davenport produces over 30 wines, all produced from fruit grown on our farm. We grow 21 different varieties of grapes on 17 acres. We also grow apples, pears, and peaches.

Description: A facility dedicated to applied research and teaching for the betterment of the horticulture industry. Applied research in food production includes trial comparisons between organic and conventional growing methods and studies involving high tunnels (unheated greenhouses). Farm Products: Certified organic produce.

Description: We are a certified organic farm that recently purchased an additional 34 acres, totaling about 40 acres just 11 blocks from downtown Lawrence. This year we received a grant to grow different varieties of hops to see what might be good in our region for local use. We are also growing heirloom wheat for fresh milled flour. There will be flour milling demonstrations, bread cooking demonstrations and a tour of the hop and produce fields. Enjoy eating pizza slices made from local ingredients and cooked in our new wood-fired outdoor oven.
