The Clearfield School 58 is an historical interpretative site attempting to demonstrate life in a rural community about 1909. The School attempts to be a place to unite people in Southeast Douglas County through history and open houses every year.
The School interprets a community in the middle of change from German to English, opportunities of growing families focused on agriculture and community.The School is on the National Historical Register. It is one of 95 one-room schools in Douglas County prior to consolidation in 1949. It is one of less than 10 still open to public.
A schoolhouse with a reconstructed bell tower that has been waiting for you since 1903. John More, a Historical interpreter portraying John Jacob Selzer, a school board trustee in 1909, will describe the history.
