At The Garden at Dogwood Forest we welcome many visitors, volunteers and apprentices throughout the year. The farm resides in the first hills just south of the Missouri River valley. We use organic and regenerative practices in everything we grow. A 40 tree orchard including cherries, pears, apples and peaches, ¾ acre of blueberries, blackberries, elderberries, strawberries, and figs make up the bulk of the production. We have inoculated 100 logs with mushroom spawn and inoculated mycorrhizae around all the orchard trees with an edible fruiting variety called king stropharia. We are just beginning to harvest the results.Paw paw trees inhabit most of our woodland and we regularly harvest 500 lbs of paw paw fruit.. Our forest is an old growth stand with a healthy understory and many varieties of spring ephemerals. We are constantly adding new indigenous varieties to enhance forest diversity. Where horses once grazed we established a 2 acre prairie and herb garden. This is a young prairie and we continue to introduce new indigenous varieties of forbes and grasses. We sell our fruit primarily through Rolling Prairie Farmers Alliance, CSA and at our Blueberry you pick from June through July. Our work with our prairie, medicinal herb garden and forest is primarily to support Sacred Earth Arts herbal study program. We currently have over 20 apprentices learning how to grow, identify, harvest and make product with herbs grown on our property. Come visit us, learn about our operation and enjoy our forest, prairie, orchard and people.

Tour our 35-acre paw paw paw-rich forest and medicinal herb garden.
