Put on a bee suit and learn hands-on what goes on inside of a beehive. If you're feeling a little less adventurous, make a candle or some beeswax lip balm.
We keep bees here on the farm as well as on other farms around Douglas County. We have recently transitioned to a new facility with a certified kitchen, store, office, and workshop. Our business includes bees & honey, wholesale, retail, kits, classes, and manufacturing of beeswax and honey products as well as equipment for beekeepers.
We have hives on site, as well as a licensed processing facility. Customers can see how bees are cared for and how honey is harvested and packaged. Honey will be available for sale along with our beeswax & honey lip balm and other related products. Of course, we have over 2 dozen flavors of honey straws.
We will have hands-on beekeeping classes in addition to sit-down honey bee classes. There is an area with several teaching hives for this purpose as well as a gazebo area. We have a large tank of melted beeswax for candle-making - dipped, rolled, and poured. Also, the opportunity to make your own beeswax and honey lip balm and honey straws.
Kids can make their own beeswax and honey lip balm and beeswax candles. They can feed the chickens. When accompanied by a parent, they can put on a bee suit and look inside of a hive. The extra-curious will have the chance to bottle honey.
