Come enjoy the peaceful setting of our farm in the Vinland Valley. See the turkeys and goats and enjoy watching their antics. Roast a hot dogs and marshmallows over a fire. Frozen poultry and products from our guest vendors will be for sale.
The farm is situated along Coal Creek in picturesque Vinland Valley, north of Baldwin City.
Majestic, more-than-a century-old burr oak trees along the driveway welcome visitors to the historic homestead. The original homestead features a barn built in 1884 and a farmhouse built in 1866 with additions in 1870, 1885, and 1980.
Our goal is to raise healthy food products for our community. We often explain how our products are raised and how to prepare them for the table.
We grow pasture-raised poultry--chickens, white broad-breasted turkeys, and heritage turkeys. Visitors will have the opportunity to take a (free) hayride to tour the farm and see the turkeys in their habitat. An oral presentation is included in the turkey tour describing the process of raising the turkeys and giving visitors the opportunity to ask questions. We will have frozen chickens and ducks for sale. We also take orders for "holiday" turkeys which will be ready to pick up in November.
In addition we raise meat goats, cattle, and field crops. The goats are in a pen in front of the barn and can easily be viewed.
During the Kaw Valley Farm Tour guests will enjoy a guided tour/hayride to see the turkeys and an oral presentation discusses how they are raised.
Kids: We have a tractor tire filled with whole corn kernels for kids to play in. There is a rope to climb attached to a limb of a 100+ year-old oak tree. There will be a corn hole game, a giant sling shot and guess what farm product is in a box game.
Lunch is a wiener roast over an open fire. Cook your own hot dogs and toast marshmallows for smores.
